The Motorola Moto G series has been under the spotlight since the past couple of weeks. We have heard some of the internal specifications, while leaked images surfaced on multiple occasions. Quite recently, an announcement by Lenovo’s CEO Yang Yuanqing was made at the launch event of Lenovo ZUK Z2 Pro, which stated that Motorola will unveil a new and exciting handset on June 9. At that time we were expecting the anxiously awaited Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus to be unveiled on the day, however now, the company sent out press invites for an event on May 17 in New Delhi, India. This recent development now suggests that the release might have been brought closer.
Let’s have a look at what we know of the Motorola G4 and G4 Plus so far. Based on multiple leaks by Evan Blass and other analysts, the Moto G4 Plus features a fingerprint scanner embedded inside a square-shaped home button. On the back side, we have a vertical strip which hosts the camera department. The two small dots visible above the camera might be the Laser autofocus. Note that it is yet to be confirmed whether the smartphone has a fingerprint scanner inside its home button or not, however based on the announcement by a Lenovo official which stated that the 2016 line-up of Motorola smartphones will feature a fingerprint scanner and none of them will sport a screen size smaller than 5-inch, it is safe to assume that it does. It must also be mentioned that Motorola Mobility was purchased by Lenovo back in 2014. Other sources claim that the Moto G4 sport a 5.5-inch 1080p resolution display whereas it’ll be powered by an octa-core CPU. 2GB RAM is also being rumored.
