LG has been filling up their K series since the start of this year. Shortly after the release of LG K7 and LG K10 which took place earlier this year, LG K4 was unveiled. As of today, two new members have been officially added to the LG K family.
The following quote from Juno Cho ( President and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company ) highlights the main purpose of the recent release:
“We are aware of the diverse needs and wants of our customers around the world and our goal is to deliver the best products to meet their expectations. The K8 and K5 will be fantastic choices for anyone who is seeking a smartphone with great looks, great looks, at a great price.”
LG K8 has been listed on the company’s Hungarian website with detailed specifications. Apparently the smartphone will sport a 5 inch In-cell 720 x 1280 resolution display. LG G8 will feature a 2.5D Arc Glass coupled with a woven back cover which considerably increases the grip on the phone, therefore preventing accidental drops. Under the hood, the device comes with MediaTek MT6735 SoC along with a Quad-core 1.3 GHz CPU and the Mali-T720 GPU. The smartphone will be offered with two different storage variants depending on the region – 8 GB or 32GB, though microSD slots will be provided with both variants in order to support expandable memory. LG K8 will offer 1.5 GB of RAM in addition to the 8MP rear and 5MP front shooter. Though it should be noted that the smartphone will be shipped with 1 GB of RAM for the Latin Americans. The camera of the smartphone is no ordinary one as it’ll be equipped with features like Gesture Interval Shot and Flash for selfie. Other Specifications include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b, g, n, Bluetooth 4.2, USB 2.0 and NFC connectivity. To power the device, a 2125 mAh removable battery is used. In addition to that, the smartphone will be available in Gold, Indigo and White while the OS running out of the box will be Android 6.0. Last but not the least, the metal body of the smartphone measures 8.7mm with power and volume controls embedded on the back.
Moving on to the LG K5, the handset comes with a 5-inch 480 x 854 FWVGA resolution display. Though the display is comparatively of low capacity than the K8, both devices have almost similar components under the hood. LG K5 will feature the same MediaTek MT6735 SoC along with the similar CPU and GPU specs found on the K8. In addition to that, 1GB of RAM will accompany the 8GB expandable native storage. 5MP/2MP camera combo will be available on the K5 while a removable 1900mAh battery will provide the juice. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b, g, n, Bluetooth 4.1, and USB 2.0. An older version of the OS, Android 5.1, will come pre-installed in the 8.9mm thick handset. LG K5 will be offered in three different color variants – Gold, Silver and Titan.
We will receive the official price list of the smartphones later this week. The LG K8 will be offered in Asia, Africa, the Middle East, CIS and Latin America while the LG K5 will be sold in Europe, CIS and Latin America. For the case of Mexican customers, they wil be getting the same smartphone under the name: LG Q6.
That is all for now, stay tuned for further updates.
