LG’s latest flagship the LG G5 has been announced. The announcement came just an hour ago. LG’s G5 is all set to go head to head with Samsung’s Galaxy S7 which is all set to come out of the curtains in around 3 hours from now. The G5 has been through a number of rumours, speculations, anticipations and renders. The final product confirms quite many rumours to be true and puts LG atop for the moment.
The Korean manufacturer’s latest beast packs up some mighty specifications inside a unibody build and sports a modular design which might become the selling point for this device as well. Putting top-notch specifications in a smartphone is no more a thing that would attract the audiences. The audience now need something innovative to invest their bucks in and this need of the audience is something that the G5 seems to be fulfilling. The G5 sports a whole new design and body language taking off from the traditional G series build.
LG has ditched the plastic build and the old design with the volume rockers at the back this time. LG G5 brings a whole new design and build. The phone is packed inside a metal unibody build with a glossy finishing. The modular design is the reason behind making this device look much sleek and beautiful. LG G5 has round edges and a curved glass. LG has placed the volume rockers on left the side while the power button is placed at the back embedded inside the finger print scanner. LG G5 hosts an IR blaster as well. LG G5 is all set to make its way to the market in Silver, Gray, Pink and Gold colours.
LG G5 Modular Design
The term modular, which has been getting highlighted again and again about the LG G5 actually has a great purpose. LG seems to be trying its best to provide the customers a smartphone with a removable battery and microSD card slot. While most of the manufacturers including Samsung are bringing up smartphones without removable batteries, LG stands out of this line. The G5 hosts a slide-out battery compartment with a 2800 mAh battery which also has a microSD card slot in it. LG has given its a modular design a cool tagline “LG G5 FRIENDS”.
The modular design found on the G5 also allows other accessories to interact with the LG G5.
LG G5 Display
LG G5 flaunts a 5.3-inch QHD display, which is smaller as comapred to the 5.5-inch display on the LG G3 and LG G4. The display is IPS-LCD panel. We can find 2560 x 1440 pixels resolution on it. LG G5 also features and Always On feature to facilitate the users with their notifications on the go.
LG G5’s always on display happens to be a great utility. It provides the users with all notifications without having them turning on the screen again and again and thus results in saving battery life of the device. The Always On screen shows you data including time, date, missed calls, sms and email notifications. According to LG, the Always On feature should consume only 0.8% of your phone’s total battery per hour.
LG G5’s display also features a Daylight Mode for better visibility while you’re moving outdoor on a brighter day. It detects the light conditions automatically and optimises the display to show you the best results on-screen.
LG G5 Hardware
The G5 packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 CPU under the hood. Snapdragon 820 is Qualcomm’s most powerful SoC so far. It’s 2x faster then the previous version of Snapdragon. The SD 820 is accompanied by Adreno 530 GPU and a RAM of 4GB. Adreno 530 is 40% more efficient as compared to its predecessor. The base storage is 32 GB and as mentioned, it does have an external SD card slot to make sure that you never run out of storage. LG G5 has a USB Type-C port. The phone also features Quick Charge 3.0 supported by the Snapdragon 820 CPU. Quick Charge 3.0 improves the charging speed by 27% and efficiency by 45%. LG G5 features an aptX HD codec which supports 24-bit sound over bluetooth. That means it will be delivering the best possible sound experience if you’re using some wireless headsets.
LG has also introduced its very own VR headset to let the users unleash the real beast residing inside the LG G5.
LG G5 Camera
LG seems to be following the footsteps of HTC. The G5 flaunts a dual camera module at its back. LG G5 has a 16 MP camera with 78-degree lens and an 8 MP camera with a 135-degree wide angle lens. This camera modules makes the LG G5 have a 1.6 times wider viewing angle as compared to the present smartphones and its also 15 degrees wider than the human eye’s view. Furthermore, the G5 features a number of new effects including Pop-out picture, Auto Shot and Film Effects. LG G5 has an 8 MP selfie shooter on the front.
LG G5 Software
LG G5 is powered with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow running LG’s own UI atop. The LG G5 now hosts all applications on the home-screen. This will likely avoid the confusions and make it easy for the users to find their desired applications.
LG G5 Price and Release date
There isn’t any official word about the pricing and release date of the G5. The device will come out soon and speculations about the pricing put it around $599-$700.
