LG with G Flex 2 is ready to make waves at the CES. Well with the promotional posters already displayed at the event, we knew that LG will be unveiling the new smartphone, but no confirmed details related to the specifications of the device were available, thanks to the leaked information, now we know what the G Flex 2 is all about.
LG G Flex 2 is the first smartphone to be unveiled in 2015 which in some aspects has the most advanced specs yet available. The smartphone will sport a 5.5-inch 1080p display. It is a bit small than the G Flex, which was 6-inch, manufactures this time around have worked to produce a pocket-friendly size. We still have doubts how the bendable shape will fit in the pocket, we will address this later on, let’s see what other specs does the device consists of. The LG G Flex 2 is powered by 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, making it the first smartphone out with this advanced chipset. HTC Hima and Samsung Galaxy S6 will also be making use of the same processor, but as we all know, the first device out always gets more attention. The smartphone will run on the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop.
As reported LG has also worked on the display, along with changes in the size, the P-OLED glass used for the display has been treated to increase its toughness. The self-healing feature introduced last time is also there but there is improvement seen there too, the time to heal has been reduced to 10 seconds from 3 minutes. Impressed? Well there are a couple of more details, keep on reading for what else can this device do.
LG G Flex 2 sports a 13-megapixel main camera, which has Optical Image Stabilization capability and a laser auto focus. The front shooter is only 2.1-megapixel, the company could have worked on improving it to about 5-megapixel. A bit disappointed by this feature, at a time where other manufacturers are focusing on improving camera specifications due to it being one of the most used feature of the smartphone, they could have worked on advancing it. Along with this the smartphone is equipped with 2 GB RAM and 16/32 GB of internal storage which will be extendable. The G Flex 2 is powered by a 3000mAh battery with a fast charge capability.
LG G Flex 2 will come with three new gesture control features: Gesture Shot, Gesture View and Glance View. Through Gesture Shot one will be capable of taking a selfie through a hand gesture. Gesture View will allow users to check the last photograph taken more conveniently and Glance View will display all the information like time, missed calls or messages with a swipe when the display is off.
The LG G Flex 2 will first launch in its home market, South Korea at the end of January. No information about when it will be launching in international markets is available yet. The smartphone will be in Platinum Silver and Flamenco Red colors. With other manufacturers also set on introducing their latest wares at the CES in the next 1-2 days, let’s see which smartphone will be the most buzz worthy and presents a serious competition to its competitors. If HTC will unveil HTC Hima at the event, my guess is that will be the smartphone to beat.
