Samsung as per tradition will be launching two variants of its S-flagship: the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8 Plus. Both of the variants will have a curved display. This aspect has been seen in all the renders seen to date. No flat screen variant for the Galaxy S8 will be produced. The two variants of Galaxy S8 will sports a 5.8-inch and 6.2-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display.

One of the major design changes that has speculated is that there will be no home button. In the leaked image we can see that there is no home button and the display size has been increased as the bezels have been minimized. The finger print scanner which in Galaxy S6 and S7 was embedded in the home button has now been moved to the rear of the device. This is evident from the image which clearly showcases the scanner beside the camera. A few days ago a report by Guardian also claimed that the finger print scanner will be the back of the device, not the leaked image confirms this detail and puts to rest the rumors that the scanner will be embedded in the display of the device.

Galaxy S8 will be equipped with Snapdragon 835 processor, which has been produced using the 10nm fabrication process. Production of chips using this process makes them 11% faster and 20% more energy efficient. Glalaxy S8 will be the first flagship To have this processor on board. It will be paired with 4GB and 6GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage which is expandable up to 256GB via the SD card.

Samsung Galaxy S8 will sport a similar camera setup to what was seen in Galaxy S7 which no doubt was quite impressive. This means that we will see a 12-megapixel (f1.7) rear and 8-megapixel (f1.7) front facing cameras with some improvements and tweaks. One of the mentioned improvements in the main camera is that of visual search. The visual search functionality would work in this way that icons will appear on the display as to what type of search is to be performed. In addition, the iris scanner which was introduced in the Note 7 will also be present in Galaxy S8 and has been placed beside the front facing camera.

Other details which can be seen suggest that Samsung has not ditched the 3.5 mm headphone jack and a USB-C types port will be used for charging the device.  Galaxy S8 will also have the Samsung’s digital assistant Bixby on board which will be integrated with the native apps and will have its own button. Along with that Galaxy S8 will also have Samsung DeX.

Samsung usually unveils its S-flagships at the MWC ever year bit this time around they have delayed the launch by a month. It will be unveiled on 29th March in a dedicated event which will take place in USA and Europe. The two variants of Galaxy S8 will cost €100 more than Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge and will be priced at €799 and €899 respectively.
