Samsung Galaxy S8, no doubt is one of the most anticipated devices of the year. In addition this will be the first flagship that the company will be unveiling after Galaxy Note 7 and it is Samsung’s chance to prove that they are still at the top of the game. The rumors mill regarding the next Galaxy S flagship is getting hotter by the day with updates and renders popping up. Today Guardian has leaked the specs and features of the Galaxy S8 in quite detail showcasing what can we expect from Samsung’s upcoming flagship

Samsung will be launching two variants: Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus. The only difference between two will be their display size. Both of the variants will have a curved display, as Samsung is making that a trademark for their flagships. This time around Samsung has worked on making some key design changes in the display of the device. Apparently, they are getting rid of the iconic home button. This will them lead to minimal bezels and an increased screen-to-body ratio, giving users a truly edge to edge display with the curved display. This feature is referred to as the ‘infinity’ display as it will cover the majority of the device.

The loss of the home button means, that the finger print scanner will be finding a new space. According to the industry sources cited, the finger print scanner will be moving at the back of the device, next to the camera. There were speculations that finger print scanner will be embedded in the display but somehow that did not happen. The headphone jack will be present, well it sure looks like Samsung is not ditching it like Apple did. Moreover, the Iris scanning biometric technology that was part of Galaxy Note 7 will also make a comeback.

Galaxy S8 will make use of Snapdragon 835, which is Qualacomm’s latest chip produced using the 10nm process. Production through this process ensures that the processor is faster and more energy efficient. Galaxy S8 will be the first flagship that will run this chipset as Samsung got hold of the early supplies. This will be complimented by a 64 GB RAM and can be extended to 256 GB via the microSD card. In terms of the camera, it will sport the ‘duo pixel‘ as was found in Galaxy S7 with some incremental improvements. Galaxy S8 will be VR ready and work with Gear VR and Gear 360. Samsung is also working on its accessories like the DeX which will turn your smartphone into an Android Desktop.

The highlight of Galaxy S8 is going to be its digital assistant Bixby. The digital assistant will be integrated with native apps and will even have the ability to make online payments. Bixby may even get its own dedicated button in Galaxy S8 to power it up. The digital assistant will also work with the camera app and help with object recognition. As the smartphone is in the testing stage, more features may get added by the time it hits the stores.

Galaxy will not be unveiled at the MWC 2017 taking place next month. It will be announced in a dedicated global events which will take place on 29th March in Europe and USA. Then the smartphone will hit global markets by the mid April.
