iPhone 8 may have Two-Step Touch-ID and Facial Recognition

iPhone as always is one of anticipated devices of the year, as people always look forward to the changes that Apple brings and new features that are introduced. As Apple will be celebrating 10 years of producing iPhones, this years device the iPhone 8 is going to be their anniversary smartphone. As sales for iPhone 7 dipped for the first time since iPhones were introduced, the company is working on bringing the best features possible. KGI Security analyst Ming-Chi Kuo speculated that Apple will be introducing a two-step Touch-ID and the Facial Recognition features in iPhone 8.

We already know that iPhone 8 will not have the home button in which the Touch-ID system is embedded and now the company is working on embedding it in the display. But somehow their previous concept is not working out. For this purpose the company is exploring new design so that they can create an effective TouchID and protect the OLED panel used in the display too.

We expect the new OLED iPhone will come with a flexible OLED panel. To avoid deforming the form factor of the flexible OLED panel from touch operation pressure, a metal structural part will be placed under the film sensor to provide more robust structural support.

Kuo also speculates that Apple will replace fingerprint scanning with facial recognition. This will usher in a new ‘paradigm shift‘ in the bio metric identification in smartphones. If in the start the technology is not ready for an abrupt switch to facial recognition then a combination of finger print scanning and facial recognition will be used.

Well Kuo sure seems hopeful and confident about the speculated changes. As far as the design changes go, they do seem feasible but as far as the integration of facial recognition goes, this seems like a long shot. Even with their anniversary smartphone, Apple will not push for every feature to be there, only those which they believe are tested and developed to be included will be present in iPhone 8.
