At a press event held at Apple’s HQ in Cupertino, Calif, Apple has unveiled two of it’s new iPhone(s), the iPhone 5C and 5S. Just as the leaks suggested, the iPhone 5S is quite similar to that of the iPhone 5 in look, while Apple has sharply improved the build quality and installed some exciting new features including the Finerprint Scanner in the home button.
The all new Apple iPhone 7 runs on an all new re-engineered A7 chip with 64-bit architecture, and is accompanied by an M7 motion co-processor which measures the motion data continuously from Gyroscope, Accelerometer and Compass. The A7 also supports OpenGL ES 3.0 which paves a way for even more higher and efficient graphics now. With the 64 bit architecture support the iPhone 5S is said to be 40 times faster than iPhone 5 and the graphics are said to be 53 times efficient.
The iPhone 5S will run on iOS 7, although it has become a 64-bit OS but it will support all the 32-bit apps available in the app store.
The iPhone 5S has got a 4-inch Retina display (widescreen multi-touch) with 1136 x 640 pixel resolution and 326 ppi. The device sports an 8 MP camera at the back with f/2.2 aperture and has a 15% larger image sensor, the camers i also accompanied a new LED flash that is dubbed by apple as True Tone as it helps to achieve accurate color tone. iPhone 5S primary camera is also capable of recording 720P videos @120fps. Front facing camera is ranged at 1.2 MP and is capable of recording 720p HD videos. The iphone 5S will come with 16/32/64 GB storage chips.
As far as the dimensions are concerned the device has a height of 4.87 inches (123.8 mm), width of 2.31 inches (58.6 mm), depth of 0.30 inch (7.6 mm) and weighs at 112 grams (same as iPhone 5).
The iPhone 5S’s battery provides a talk time of up to 10 hours on 3G and Stand by time is up to 250 hours while the video playback is up to 10 hours and audio play back is up to 40 hours.
As the rumor mills kept running hot about the Fingerprint scanner inside the home key of the iPhone 5S, the iPhone 5S actually supports a scanner embedded into the Home Key but it’s called Touch ID.
Touch ID is the Fingerprint Identity sensor. Touch ID is a Tactile Switch underneath a Capactitive Single-Touch Sensor having a Stainless Steel Detection Ring around it covered by a Laser-Cut Sapphire Crystal. The idea behind the Touch ID sensor is improving the security for the devices as stated by Phill Shiller on stage in the launch event. The touch ID smartly recognizes the owner’s fingerprint and lets the owner get in the device. Apple aims at making the device security easy as the security lock code is not even used by 50% of the iPhone owners. The scanner also lets the users confirm purchases in the iTunes store. Touch ID sensor is capable of storing multiple fingerprints at multiple angles and recognize the owner.
iPhone 5S is expected to hit the markets in Australia, US, UK, China, Canada, Japan, France, Germany & Singapore by 20th of September, 2013. Sadly with the release of iPhone 5S the production of iPhone 5 will be discontinued. iPhone 5S will be available in over 100 countries by the end of December, 2013.
