A report from DigiTimes hints that there is a fair chance that the Apple’s new full- sized and mini iPads i.e iPad 5 and iPad mini 2 will feature a fingerprint sensor embedded in their home buttons, just as the iPhone 5S does.
The report doesn’t directly say that the two will have the fingerprint sensors, it instead says that Apple is going to extend its use of sapphire crystals in its upcoming devices. Apple first used the sapphire crystals as the camera lens of their devices and lately used asa fingerprint scanner in their latest device iPhone 5S. It had also thought to use sapphire crystals for the touchscreen covers. But, the saphhire crystal replacement on the home button had alrady cost them five times more than before. So, they laid off the idea.
Moreover, iPad 5 and iPad mini 2 are expected to see daylight in the October 15 event. And with these is expected to be unveiled the iOS 7.1 version. iPad mini is said to have a high-resolution retina screen and iPad 5 will have similar specs as that of iPhone 5S, with a 64-bit A7 processor. The designs of both, however, will remain similar.
