Samsung Galaxy J7 under the umbrella of T-Mobile comes as J700T and under the umbrella of Metro PCS, it comes labeled as J700T1. Both these phones have the same specifications as the standard Galaxy J7 released in 2016. Galaxy J7 on the front has a 5.5 inch display. It hosts a 13 MP camera at its back. Galaxy J7 has a 16 GB internal storage capacity while the RAM is 2 GB. Samsung managed to power it up with its in-house Exyons 7580 CPU. Galaxy J7 2016 runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out of the box.

With the TWRP recovery on your Galaxy J7 J700T and J700T1, you can bring in your favourite custom ROMs. You can also flash MODs like Xposed Framework, Viper4Android, DoblyAtmos and many others. The root access will do soemthing similar. You can install root specific applications like Flashify, TWRP Manager, Titanium Backup, Greenify and a lot more. Important prerequisites

Charge your phone up to 50% to avoid power issues during flashing process.

Enable USB deubgging from the developer options in your phone.

Enable OEM Unlocking on your phone from the developer options as well.

Backup all your important contacts, call logs, sms messages and media content.

Use your phone’s original data cable to connect it to your PC.

If you have Samsung Kies installed on your PC, turn it off while using Odin.

Disable Firewall/Antivirus in order to download the files properly.

Follow the rest of the method being very careful.

Install TWRP Recovery and Root Galaxy J7

Required downloads:

  1. Download and install Samsung USB drivers
  2. Download and extract Odin 3.10.7 on your computer’s desktop
  3. Also, Download TWRP recovery according to your device:
  4. Download SuperSU.zip and copy it to your phone’s internal storage.

How to flash the recovery on Galaxy J7 J700T/J700T1 and root it now

  1. Open Odin.exe from the extracted Odin files you downloaded on your computer’s desktop.
  2. In Odin, click the “AP” tab in Odin and select the recovery file for your device that you just downloaded above.
  3. The only options checked in Odin should be Auto Reboot and F.Reset Time. No other options should be ticked.
  4. Now put your phone in download mode. Turn it off first. Now press and hold Volume Down + Home + Power buttons. As soon as it boots up, leave the keys. Once it shows a warning, press Volume Up to continue.
  5. Connect your phone to your PC while Odin is open.
  6. Once the ID:COM box turns blue in Odin after the successful connection, click the Start button.
  7. It will flash recovery on your phone and reboot your phone after that.
  8. Now once again turn off your phone and boot it into recovery. To do so, press and hold Volume Up + Home + Power Key to boot into TWRP.
  9. Now in TWRP, tap Install > Locate SuperSU.zip file that you copied > flash the file. 
  10. Reboot your phone after flashing SuperSU.
  11. Now you are rooted and have the TWRP installed on your device.
