Install Galaxy Note 8 ROM on Galaxy S8 & S8 Plus

Samsung Galaxy Note 8’s ROM has been ported for the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8 Plus. The ROM comes in the form of famous Renovate Ice ROM. Renovate Ice Note 8 Port ROM for the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8 Plus is based on the N950FXXU1AQl1 firmware of the Galaxy Note 8. The ROM is running on Android 7.1 Nougat. When booted for the first time, it won’t trip the Knox counter. By default, the Knox counter in this ROM is set to 0x0. You will also find private mode working perfectly fine in this ROM. The ROM comes with AROMA installer. It means you can select the features you want to see on the phone during the ROM’s installation process. Renovate Ice ROM also supports a few tweak applications which can help you to further modify your Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8 Plus. Another awesome feature in this ROM is, it will not set your device’s status to custom in the bootloader. You will find the device status: official whenever you boot into the download mode. Features like screen recorder and application are also packed in this ROM. SystemUI Tuner is enabled by default as well. Renovate Ice also bypasses limits like camera flash not working on a lower percentage of battery and other such limits. You can also select the default storage for an application to be installed on your phone. You can also select your desired CSC while installing this ROM. So, you got a Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8 Plus, and you don’t want to upgrade to the Galaxy Note 8? Well, it’s not really needed as long as you don’t care about the hardware. You can always get the software goodies from a new smartphone to your old smartphone. That’s exactly what this Note 8 Port ROM will do. This tutorial will now take you through all the necessary steps to install Galaxy Note 8 ROM on Galaxy S8 & Galaxy S8 Plus. The process is going to take a while, so bear with us.

Preps

  1. This guide is supposed to work for the Galaxy S8 G950F, G950FD and Galaxy S8 Plus G955, G955FD. Check your phone’s model number in Settings > About Phone section. Do not flash it on any other variant or phone as there is a potential risk of bricking it.
  2. Charge your phone’s battery to last through the installation process.
  3. Backup your Contacts, Call Logs, SMS Messages and copy the media content to your computer.
  4. Install TWRP recovery on your Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8 Plus.
  5. Create a Nandroid and EFS backup using the TWRP recovery.
  6. Follow this guide carefully. Make sure that you understand all the risks involved in flashing a custom ROM. If something goes wrong, TechBeasts or the ROM developer may not be held responsible. Understand that you are doing it at your own risk.

Install Galaxy Note 8 ROM on Galaxy S8 & S8 Plus

  1. Download Renovate Ice ROM for Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8 Plus.
  2. Copy the Renovate Ice ROM to your external SD card.
  3. Make sure that you’ve backed up your entire phone. Turn off your phone now.
  4. Boot into TWRP recovery by long pressing Power + Bixby + Volume Up Key.
  5. Once your phone is in the TWRP recovery, tap Wipe > Format Data > Swipe screen to confirm or type “Yes”.
  6. After formatting data, once again tap Wipe > Advanced Wipe > Select all partitions except USB OTG and External SD Card > Swipe screen to confirm flash.
  7. Now get back to the main menu in TWRP recovery.
  8. Tap Install > Locate the RENOVATE_ICE_N950_PORT_0.1.zip file > Swipe screen to confirm flash.
  9. It will start AROMA installer. Now you can go through the on-screen process. Complete the ROM installation and reboot your phone.
  10. First boot can take up to 10 minutes, so keep patience. Once your phone boots up, you are good to go. That’s all.
