Just last year, when Samsung pulled the curtains off from the Galaxy Note 3, it tempted the users at a great level. The features in the Galaxy Note 3 were mouth watering that would just make the users forget any other smartphone easily. These features included the small scroll, smart pause, air view and air gestures. While the predecessor of the device, the Galaxy Note 2, because of being a great Android device of all the time, was owned by a huge number of Android freaks and not all of them were supposed to update their device to the Galaxy Note 3, so a new team, named as Electron Team, a group of some great XDA developers came up with their ROM named as Ditto Note 3 ROM, that packed up almost all the features of the Galaxy Note 3 for our beloved Galaxy Note 2. The ROM added a new life to the Galaxy Note 2 and turned out to be a big reason for the users to stick with the Galaxy Note 2 having the touch of Galaxy Note 3. Initially the ROM included some minor bugs and hiccups here and there, but with time it received some major improvements and stability, along with the performance has become more than better by now.
Now, the Galaxy Note series by Samsung has reached the 4th great iteration. Just a month back, Samsung brought up the Galaxy Note 4 in spotlight, and as usual, the device turned out to be a beast just like the previous Galaxy Note series phablets. The Galaxy Note 4 has a plethora of features that makes it stand atop among all the Note series phablets so far. Running on Android 4.4.4 KitKat atop of Samsung’s newest TouchWiz UI, the device packs up some cool features. There are great UI changes that make the display eye-catching. Let’s go through the early preparations now and learn how to install the Ditto Note 4 (DN4) Android 4.4.4 KitKat Custom ROM on your Galaxy Note 2 GT-N7100 and grab features from the Galaxy Note 4.
Early Preparations:
1. This is only for Samsung Galaxy Note 2 GT-N7100
This custom ROM is only for the device mentioned above. Make sure that your model number matches the one listed above. To do so, go to Settings > About Device on your device and see your model number. Flashing this ROM on any other device will result in bricking it so make sure that you meet this requirement first of all.
2. Battery should be charged at least over 60%
Make sure that your battery is charged enough to complete the flashing process. In case your battery is low and your device goes dead during the flashing process, you may end up soft bricking your device as it won’t complete the flashing process.
3. Flash a Custom Recovery
A custom recovery is required for flashing this ROM. You may flash TWRP recovery using this guide.
4. Backup everything!
Just to be on the safe side, you may consider backing up each and everything from your Android device. This is highly recommended so that in case anything goes wrong, you still have the access to all of your data and you can restore it immediately. You may backup everything as listed below.
- Backup SMS Messages
- Backup Call Logs
- Backup Contacts
- Backup Media – Copy your files manually to your PC or Laptop.
- Backup EFS
- Titanium Backup – If already rooted, use Titanium Backup to backup all of your apps, system data and other important content.
- Backup Nandroid – You can do this using TWRP recovery.
5. Disclaimer
The methods involved in flashing custom recoveries, ROMs and rooting your phone are highly custom and may result in bricking your device, and has nothing to do with Google or the device manufacturer that is SAMSUNG in our case. Also rooting your device will void its warranty and you will be no longer eligible for any kind of free device services by the manufacturers/warranty providers. In case of any mishap we may not be held responsible. If your device has the Knox counter on the bootloader, it will be tripped and you won’t be able to reset it ever. Follow these instructions to the letter to avoid any mishap or bricking. Make sure that whatever you do, you are doing it at your own responsibility.
How to install Ditto Note 4 ROM on Galaxy Note 2 GT-N7100 now
- Before you flash this ROM, you need to make sure that you’ve read and applied all the guidelines explained above.
- Also, make sure that you’re currently running your Galaxy Note 2 on Android 4.3 [MJ5 bootloader] or higher. Upgrading from an older version of Android will cause issues.
- Now boot into TWRP recovery, to do so, turn off your device and then turn it on by pressing and holding Volume Up+ Home Button + Power Key. Select Wipe >Advanced Wipe > Wipe Cache and Dalvik Cache.
- Download the Ditto Note 4 ROM [DN4_BY_ELECTRONG_TEAM.zip] and place it on your phone’s sd card.
- Boot into TWRP Recovery again, select install > DN4_BY_ELECTRONG_TEAM.zip file and flash it.
- The ROM will take a while to get flashed. As soon as the installation is done, factory reset the phone using the wipe option in TWRP recovery.
- Reboot now and setup your new ROM in order to enjoy the features of Galaxy Note 4.

Those having WiFi issues can resolve it using the Patch by Dr Ketan. Here’s how to get across it.
Here’s how you can flash Dr. Ketan’s Wifi Fix Patch:
- Download and extract Dr Ketan’s Wifi Patch from HERE.
- Open Odin.
- Put your phone in download mode. To do so ,turn it off and then turn it on by pressing and holding Volume Down + Home Button + Power Key, then press volume up to continue.
- Connect it to your PC. the ID:COM box should turn blue in Odin now.
- Select PDA tab, and select the downloaded Dr Ketan’s Wifi Patch file.
- Hit start. It should flash the wifi patch quickly. As soon as your device reboots, try turning on wifi and it should be working.
- In case you are currently on an older bootloader, then download and extract this BL_MJ5_DN3 bootloader and flash it using Odin and skip Dr Ketan’s Wifi Fix.
Just boot into TWRP recovery now and wipe cache and dalvik cache and reboot your device. If the ROM isn’t good enough to fulfill your needs, you may flash stock firmware using this guide.

Nyc rom but there are so less motions and guestures. Before this i used dn3v5.2 rom and it has all the note 2 and note 3 mosions and guestures. @shakilmasalawala:disqus samsung has skipped some features in the Galaxy Note 4, these include some motions and gestures. DN4 is based on Galaxy Note 4, so that might be the reason you’re not seeing some features here.

First installed TWRP using Odin. Then using TWRP first wiped cache and dalvik cache. Then clicked install and flashed DN4 ROM.

just installed dn4 rom which was working nicely until i enabled lock screen with pin. when i enter pin on lock screen it says unfortunatley keyguard has stopped working and i am stuck in lock screen with no way out, any help ? thanks
@paulbinney:disqus boot into custom recovery and wipe cache and dalvik cache..see if it boots up or not.. if it doesn’t, then perform a factory data reset from recovery, it will definitely work.. If this also fails, you can flash stock firmware and restore your device.

I faced the same case. I just wipe dalvik cache and then factory reset from Custom Recovery. It works. But I am not sure which action precisely made it work.
I can’t share any file or receive file via bluetooth ..and even wifi direct is not working properly …installation from playstore also showing error…plz help me out from these problems

You’ve messed up your EFS partition. If you’ve backed it up, simply restore it. Or else, flash your previous firmware back again.

@bluedskull:disqus you can do two things right now: perform a clean installation of this ROM from scratch or go back to your stock ROM.
The camera issue is rare, and can be fixed using a third party app, however any installation conflict might have stopped it from working.
Do you have the . TAR version of the Rom ? I got to wipe the current rom , I can’t find the backup . I need to install with Odin because My external storage card is not big enough to hold the Rom . Until now I was used to flashing Roms from internal storage . PLease Help me with the TAR File ! Thank You !
@ionutbazu:disqus no, custom roms do not come in the form of .tar files. the only way is to either place the file on your internal sd, or copy some data to your PC to make room. SD card means both – the internal and external!

I have flashed TWRP recovery thru odin it shows me version 2.4.4.0
i have tried to install DN4 ROM but it got failed status error 7
I tried to restore my nandroid backup it shows sucess but it’s stuck it bootloop till 15 minutes and then i removed the battery
I have tried to clear each and every cache even internal storage
I have tried to flash cwm via adb sideload but it doesn’t receive any package,
I am able to start the download mode
Odin can no longer recognize the the phone connected
I have tried to flash cwm via zip file install but it doesn’t work too
I don’t know whether it’s a bug with twrp or what but i am royally screwed

Hi Usama, Thanks for the info. My odin was able to recognize the phone later that day. I immediately changed the recovery from TWRP to CWM by making CWM img odin compatiable in tar.md5 format/
After this I installed Ditto note 4 ROM. via CWM Zip install The entire process took me not more than 30 minutes. but yes, overall if i see i had spent a hell lot of time
I am pretty sure the TWRP screwed up my phone, I would recommend CWM Recovery

I also flashed this rom on my n7100, but it gets an error: keyguard has stopped, after I press the power button to unlock the phone. I can figure out how to fix it, I tryed reflashing the rom but it is still there.
@advitiyaparanjape:disqus try enabling USB debugging mode and connect your phone again, if it doesn’t detect, try putting your phone in download mode and see if odin detects it or not. If Odin detects, you should flash a stock firmware.

Love the ROM other than one thing so far. The Gps will not lock onto any satellites. Was on an hour bicycle ride today and it newer did find a satellite. Any ideas?

I flashed the ditto note 4 (v2,1) on my note 2 N7100, following your instructions here. It’s working well but for some slight glitches, like the calendar. However, if I leave the phone idle for a few seconds, the screen goes blank and won’t come on again, even when I touch, press the home or the power button. I’ll only have to press the power button, long enough, to turn off/and reboot the phone before the screen comes on again, and the same cycle continues if the phone is left idle. Please can anybody advise how I can fix this problem?
@disqus_3mBXuur3mN:disqus Have you flashed the latest version of Ditto Note 4 ROM? Also, try wiping cache and dalvik cache, this might fix your issue. Since its a custom ROM, not everything is expected to work perfectly well. There might be some minor bugs residing in your phone.

@enricocuison:disqus if you backed up your EFS partition before flashing the custom ROM then flash the EFS backup and signals will be back.
About device being too hot: check if your device gets hot even on normal usage.. if so, then you might consider going back to a stock ROM.

And the second is about S Planner .. When i open , it just says : Unfortunately S Planner has stopped ! I tried to disable it and enable it again , clear data , clear cache , force stop ! None of them benifits 🙁 i can’t also find the app on play store to update or uninstall !

I have installed dn4 version 1 rom its working fine now i got to know about dn4 v2 and v2.1 rom i want to know which version is best to install now please help and can u please attach the link to download that version which you think is best among all dn4 version

Usama Bro I recently installed DN4 ROM on NOTE 2 SGH-I317 and its running fine but the issue is my SIM card is not detected, for this issue I flashed these on my note 2; DN4-stock-kernel, Dn4-Update_v2.2.6, and system-UI-no-operator-signed. After flashing these files it shows a black screen and nothing is showing. It’s stuck in black screen I can’t able to reboot to recovery or download mode. What should I do please help me?
This worked on Shv – E250S Version of Note 2? I need this rom more features than stock 4.4.2
