Install Android Revolution HD Custom ROM on HTC One M9

HTC latest Flagship HTC One M9, has made its way to the Consumers last month and now most of the HTC One M8 users have already upgraded to this flagship. HTC One M9 is packed with some high-end features like Quad-core 1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 and Quad-core 2 GHz Cortex-A57 with GPU Adreno 430 for extreme gaming and awesome display, with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal Storage, you have more than enough memory to keep the device fast and also enough to save a lot of data in it. 20MP of Rear cam with some of the necessary and unique functions, you’ll get one heck of an amazing Camera result and running Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the the box. Not to mention 5.0 inches of Screen size with Full HD resolution.

The Custom side has starting to bring custom ROMs for this device too and despite that there is no rooting method is available for this device. The TWRP recovery has made its way and so is the custom ROMs. Android Revolution HD is one of the best Custom ROM or should I say the most popular ROM of HTC One series, reviewed by a lot of people and given 5 star rating by most of them. This is not an official release from HTC but a Custom ROM. Installation procedure uses the Fastboot commands to install this custom ROM. Your device must be rooted. Let’s go through the early preparations and then flash this ROM.

Install Android Revolution HD Custom ROM on HTC One M9

Early Preparations:

  • This is only for HTC One M9!
  • Battery should be charged at least over 60%
  • Unlock Bootloader Of Your Device.
  • Flash a Custom Recovery and Root Your device
  • Backup SMS Messages
  • Backup Call Logs
  • Backup Contacts
  • Backup Media – Copy your files manually to your PC or Laptop.
  • Titanium Backup – If already rooted, use Titanium Backup to backup all of your apps, system data and other important content.
  • Backup Nandroid –  If CWM  or TWRP installed previously, otherwise skip this step and perform this at the end of flashing


The methods involved in flashing custom recoveries, roms and rooting your phone are highly custom and may result in bricking your device, and has nothing to do with Google or the device manufacturer that is HTC in our case. Also rooting your device will void its warranty and you will be no longer eligible for any kind of free device services by the manufacturers/warranty providers. In case of any mishap we may not be held responsible. How to Flash Boot.img:

  1. Make Sure that USB Debugging is enable, go-to Settings > Developers Option and Tick the USB debugging.
  2. Make sure that Fastbboot/ADB is configured on PC. How? How to Install Android Adb & Fastboot Drivers on Your Windows PC [Guide].
  3. Then Download both the files from the above links.
  4. Extract the Android Revolution file and either in Kernal Folder or in the Main Folder there is a file called boot.img.
  5.  Copy and paste the boot.img to the Fastboot Folder.
  6. Turn off your phone and open Bootloader/Fastboot mode. How? Press and hold Volume Down + Power button until you see some text on screen.
  7. Now Open Command prompt in Fastboot Folder, How? Hold Shift Key and Right Click anywhere in the Fastboot folder.
  8. Now type in the following command: fastboot flash boot boot.img Press Enter.
  9. Then type in the following command: fastboot reboot.
  10. After the reboot, take out the battery and wait for at least 10 seconds.

How to Install Android Revolution HD:

  • Connect your device with PC.
  • Copy and Paste the Above zip files to the root of your sdcard.
  • Open Recovery mode. How?
  1. Connect your device with PC
  2. Open Command Prompt in Fastboot folder.
  3. Now Type: adb reboot bootloader
  4. Choose Recovery from Bootloader

CWM/PhilZ Touch Recovery:

  1. Back-up your ROM using the Recovery.
  2. To Perform a Back-up, Navigate to Back-up and Restore on Next screen, Choose Back-up again.
  3. Go back to Main Screen after the Back-up is complete.
  4. Then Navigate to ‘advance’ and choose ‘Dalvik Wipe Cache’, so you won’t get in any bootloop.
  5. Navigate to ‘Install zip from sd card’ another windows will open in front of you.
  6. Finally Select “Wipe Data/Factory Reset”
  7. Select ‘choose zip from sd card’ from the Options.
  8. Select the Android Revolution file and confirm the installation on next screen.
  9. Go Back and Flash
  10. Once the Installation is Over, Select +++++Go Back+++++
  11. Select Reboot Now to Reboot the System.

TWRP Users.

  1. Tap On Back-Up and Select System and Data
  2. Swipe the Confirmation Slider
  3. Tap on Wipe Button and Select Cache, System, Data.
  4. Swipe the Confirmation Slider.
  5. Go back to Main Menu and Tap Install Button.
  6. Locate the Android Revolution, and Swipe the Slider To install it.
  7. Once the Installation is Over, you will be promoted to Reboot System Now
  8. Select Reboot Now to Reboot the System.

The First boot might take up-to 5 minutes, so please be patient.
