Huawei in 2015, introduced Huawei Watch, which without doubt is one of the classiest and impeccably designed smartwatches. Now it looks as if the company is set to announce the second-generation model, Huawei Watch 2 at the MWC 2017.

Richard Yu, Huawei’s CEO, confirmed this aspect on Weibo that the company will indeed be launching a new wearable at the event. The post came with a hashtag #HuaweiWatch2 and a poster with the image of a man in sports gear, glancing at the watch. The poster does reveal that Watch 2 will focus a lot on physical activity and health tracking as it has been ‘Made for Free Spirits‘. At the moment within the wearable category, fitness trackers are quite popular which goes hand in hand with the personal health and fitness trends that are quite popular. We hope that along with fitness, Watch 2 focuses on bringing users the functionality too.

Huawei Watch 2 will come with Android Wear 2.0 on board. Google just last week launched Android Wear 2.0 and it will be rolling out to smartwatches soon. Along with that Google in collaboration with LG introduced LG Watch Style and LG Watch Sport with the Android 2.0 onboard. Now Huawei will be adding their latest wearable adding to the competition.

Rumored specs related to Huawei Watch 2 suggests that the device will have a 42-millimeter body with a 1.4 inch display. Users will have a choice between a leather or a stainless steel band. There is a possibility that the smartwatch will come with its own sim slot, which will make it so much more convenient for people on the go to connect with someone. In this case, the smartphone will be working independently of and iOS or Android powered device. We do hope that this feature gets included and we get to see a smartwatch that is not only impressive in looks but in features and functionality too.
