To date HTC’s plans for the MWC are still unclear, the way the news realted to HTC One M9 has been popping up in the last few days, we would have pegged it for an MWC debut but in 2014 the company uveiled their flagship at a separate event and showed off some Desire devices at the MWC. So keeping that in view and a tweet by @upleaks suggests that the company is planning to announce a mid-rage HTC Desire 626 at the event.
The new HTC Desire 626 will sport a 5-inch HD (720 x 1280 p) display. The device will be powered by an octa-core MediaTek MT6572 clocked at 1.7 GHz, accompanied by a 2 GB RAM and 16 GB of internal storage. The said rumors also suggest that the smartphone will be available in two variants and the other one will be equipped with a quad-core Snapdragon 410 chipset with a 1 GB RAM. The device will sport a 13-megapixel main and 5-megapixel front camera. It will run on Android 4.4 KitKat with HTC Sense UI on top and will be updated to 5.0 Lollipop. What the company will price this smartphone at is not known, we will get to know more about the new Desire device in the upcoming days.
The new Desire smartphone is the company’s bid at diversifying their product portfolio in the mid-range category. Not only HTC but different other companies like Samsung are also working producing entry-level and mid-range category devices in order to retain their market shares as well as catering to consumers needs.
