HTC Butterfly’s successor is out today, named as the HTC Butterfly 2. The device supersedes the original Butterfly and Butterfly S by having a same mixture of a plastic build with some substantial specifications.
HTC Butterfly 2 looks pretty much inspired by the HTC M8 as it got some features and specifications from HTC’s latest flagship, and it also gives us sense of being inspired by the HTC E8 as the Butterfly 2’s curved plastic build remembers the plastic version of the M8. But the Butterfly 2 outdoes the M8 in some of its specifications.
The HTC Butterfly 2 sports a very nice 5 inches full HD display. The phone is powered up with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 801 CPU clocked at 2.5 GHz, as same as that of the HTC M8. There’s a 2 GB RAM. The internal storage is either 16 GB or 32 GB, and there’s microSD card slot as well for the external storage.
The HTC Butterfly 2 also sports a Duo camera at the back, but unlike One’s 4MP sensor, its an improved 13MP shooter. Butterfly 2 users will still be able to use the depth sensor for selective focus and other features. For the large and detailed pictures, the Butterfly 2’s 13MP shooter takes the lead over One’s ultra pixel camera. The front cam is as same as that of the M8, i.e. 5 MP.
Butterfly 2 packs up a 2700 mAh battery, that’s a 100 mAh more than that of the M8’s. HTC also suggests that ith as improved the Boom Sound speakers to deliver 25% more volume. The software components of the audio stack have been enhanced as well and now include some features from the audio company JBL.
HTC Butteryfly 2 will be available in September, 14. In Japan, the device will be available as HTC Butterfly 2 HTL23 and will be sold through the carrier KDDI. Like its predecessors, the device will be limited to a few markets in the South and East Asia which include Taiwan, Hong Kong, India, Malaysia, Thailand and Singapore. The original butterfly was released in the European and the US markets after some time of its release and was known as the Droid DNA, but that doesn’t seem happening to the Butterfly 2 as of now.
