There are many reasons which can cause this error “unfortunately SnapChat has stopped “. Once you start getting this error you cannot use Snapchat properly so in order to get rid of this annoying situation follow my step by step guide below.

How To Fix Unfortunately Snapchat Has Stopped on Android:

Step#1: Open Settings on your Android device. Once you are in the setting menu you have to find Applications option ( if you are using Android 5.0 + ), if you are using Android 4.0 or lower then you have to use the more tab.

Step#2: Now tap on More tab. [ I am using Galaxy Note 3 ]

Step#3: Tap on Application Manager form the list.

Step#4: Now select All Application with a swipe to left.

Step#5: There you’ll see all your installed apps, Tap on Snapchat.

Step#6: Now all you have to do tap on Clear Cache and Clear data.

Step#7: Now go to home screen and restart your device.

More workarounds to Fix Unfortunately SnapChat has stopped:

This method is for all the latest Android OS.

  • One your Android device, open Settings > Applications / Applications Manager > All Apps
  • Scroll all the way down and locate SnapChat.
  • Tap SnapChat to open its settings.
  • If you’re using Android Marshmallow or higher, you will have to tap SnapChat > Storage to open cache and data options.
  • Now tap Clear Data and Clear Cache.
  • Now restart your Android device now.

Perform a Factory Reset [ Fix Unfortunately SnapChat Has Stopped.]:

You need to create a complete backup of your device before you perform a Factory Reset. [ How to Backup Your Entire Android Device to PC ].

  • Turn off your device.
  • Now press and hold home+Power+Volume Up key.
  • Release the power button once you see the logo, but keep holding home and Volume up keys.
  • Now when you see Android logolet go both buttons.
  • Use the volume down button to navigate and highlight wipe data/factory reset.
  • Now use the power key to select the option.
  • You have to select ‘Yes‘ when you’ll be prompted for next menu.
  • Now wait for the process to be completed, once it’s done highlight ‘Reboot system now’ and press power button to select it.
  • All Done.

Clear System Cache:

  • Turn off your device.
  • Now press and hold home+Power+Volume Up key.
  • Release the power button once you see a logo, but keep holding home and Volume up keys.
  • Now when you see Android logolet go both buttons.
  • Use the volume down button to navigate and highlight wipe cache partition.
  • Now use the power key to select the option.
  • You have to select ‘Yes‘ when you’ll be prompted to next menu.
  • Now wait for the process to be completed, once it’s done highlight ‘Reboot system now’ and press power button to select it.
  • All Done.

If this method is not working for you then you have to uninstall the Snapchat app and install the latest updated version from Google Play.   1. I’m using galaxy note 4 and it didn’t work for me….tried all the methods you posted… smh.

  2. nothing works, cache, data dump, uninstall, re install, even reset my phone, im pretty sure the snapchat update caused it.

    • same here, i’ve cleared everything, uninstalled everything, reset my phone as well. happened around the same time as the update. I’m using Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge.

  4. Same problem on my note 4, tried all these methods and none work, phone went missing, got new note 4 in the mail. Same problem. I believe it’s a compatability issue with the note 4 and snapchat. I’ve tried downloading all the old versions of snapchat and they don’t even work anymore. Wit the new note 4 updates, someone’s going to have to release an update to fix this bug.

  5. I tried all the methods on my Galaxy Ace 2 and thought it was just because of the model, but I believe it’s a compatibility bug with all Androids. Hope they fix this with the next update…

  7. Im using my galaxy s5 and i created a new snapchat and my kids logged me out and now i am having the same issue. It says there was an error logging in. has any one found a solution?
