Google Unveiled KitKat as Android’s Next Version Name – Android 4.4

It looks like that Google and Nestle have joined hands to chose the name for Android’s next version. As Android passes 1 billion phone activations, as a part of the celebrations Sundar Pichai, head of the Google Chrome and Google Android unveiled the name of the next Android version today, that is ”KitKat”. A giant chocolaty statue of the KitKat bars has joined it’s predecessor statues at Google’s HQ’s lawn in Mountain View.

Kitkat is going to be the codename for Android 4.4 – not the long rumored Android 5.0. Rumors have suggested that Android 5.0 will be named as Key Lime Pie. The name has been confirmed live from google’s new page for Android 4.4. Google and KitKat have also unveiled a new promotion with the chance of allowing the users to win a free Nexus 7 or Google Play Store credits.
