Google Assistant now rolling out to devices with Android Nougat and Marshmallow

Good news for the Android users coveting the ultra hip AI feature, Google Assistant that was introduced with the Google Pixel devices, this feature will be hitting your smartphone soon. The smartphones running Android Nougat and Android Marshmallow will get this feature. But there is a catch not all devices running these two OS will receive the update. Apparently only high-end devices will be getting the Google Assistant, especially the one’s running Android Nougat.

In the first phase of the program, the Google Assistant will be coming to the devices in the USA. Then next in the lineup users in Canada, United Kingdom and Australia will get the English language support version of Google Assistant. Then if everything stays on track Germany will receive the German language support Google Assistant. In the coming months, the company will slowly start expanding the update to other regions. So, if you are in one of the countries not mentioned here, you will have to wait for a couple of months to get the Google Assistant on your smartphone.

AI assistants seem to be the buzz word for the year 2017, with companies rallying around bringing this feature to their devices. Google last year with the announcement of the Google Pixel devices announced their AI assistant Google Assistant, a voice based AI assistant that will assist you with your daily tasks. It is similar to what iPhone users have in the form of Siri. Looking at this HTC in the start of the year announced HTC Sense Companion, with HTC U Ultra and Samsung is is planning to debut their AI assistant, Bixby with Galaxy S8 next month. With increased competition and companies rallying for their own AI assistants it makes sense that Google would like to retain their dominance within this category by letting users have a taste of what Google Assistant is all about.
