Samsung is jumping the digital virtual assistant bandwagon this year by bringing ‘Bixby‘ to its upcoming flagship Galaxy S8. Last year Samsung acquired Viv, which created Siri, the AI assistant that iPhone uses and for the past couple of months they have been working on introducing their own assistant for their devices. To date the features that we have heard about like using the camera for visual search and text recognition indicate that Samsung is working on giving its digital assistant advanced capabilities which to date other similar assistants do not have. Now a new information about Bixby reveals that it will be supporting 7-8 languages.

With a global market that Samsung has, providing the Bixby support in just language will limit the consumer base. As this feature will be introduced for the first time and Samsung will be banking on this feature to drive sales. Samsung Bixby will be supporting up to 8 languages which will include English, Korean and Chinese. Google Assistant supports English, Brazilian, German, Portuguese and Hindi languages.

Samsung future plans include bringing Bixby to their other products like home appliances, smart TV’s and other devices. This will shape up to be an innovative development on Samsung’s part as other companies are also working on integrating it in their products. Samsung’s success with Bixby will depend on what new features they introduce and how well they integrate it with other devices ecosystem in the future.
