YU Televentures has a very nice lineup of Android smartphones. The smartphones produced by this company are a great choice for the users with a tight budget. YU’s famous smartphones include the YU Yureka, YU Yuphoria and the YU Yunique. All these smartphones were released in the year 2015. If we look at what’s different between these smartphones, we may not be able to easily spot a difference in the outlook of these phones. However, they differ a lot when it comes to specifications. One common thing between all these smartphones is that they came out running on Android Lollipop out of the box. These phones run on the Android Lollipop with a makeover of the CyanogenOS which is pretty close to Vanilla Android.

Just to give you a better idea, we will have a brief look at these phones first. The YU Yureka has a Snapdragon 615 CPU under the hood with a 2 GB RAM. This phone has Adreno 406 GPU. It has a 5.5-inch 720P display. There’s a 2 GB RAM. A 13 MP shooter is fixed at the back and a 5 MP shooter is fixed on the front. YU Yureka has a 2500 mAh battery under the hood.

YU Yunique has a 4.7-inch 720P display. There’s an 8 MP shooter at its back and a 2 MP shooter on the front. This phone is powered by Snapdragon 410 CPU and a RAM of 1 GB. There’s a 2000 mAh battery in this phone. It also ran on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out of the box.

The YU Yuphoria offers a 2 GB RAM, 16 GB internal storage. It also comes with an 8 MP shooter at the back and has a 5 MP shooter on the front. This phone has a 5.0-inch 720P display. It’s also powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 CPU and Adreno 305 GPU. It also ran on Android Lollipop when seen for the first time.

Last year, YU updated all these phones to official Android Marshmallow firmware. If you own one of these devices, you can quickly check the OTA update section and if there is an update available, you can flash it right away. In case the update hasn’t made it to your region yet, you may consider flashing the update manually. The following tutorial will take you through the steps to download YU Yureka, Yuphoria and Yunique Official Android Marshmallow and also how to install the Marshmallow ROM on these phones.

Prerequisites

  1. This guide is supposed to work only with the phones mentioned in the title.
  2. Your phone must be charged up to 50% to last during the installation process.
  3. The bootloader of your phone must be unlocked.
  4. Enable USB Debugging, also enable OEM Unlocking on your phone.
  5. Download and install Android ADB and Fastboot drivers on your computer.

Download YU Yureka, Yuphoria, and Yunique Official Android Marshmallow

First of all, you need to download the Android Marshmallow firmware file according to your device.

  1. YU Yureka Android Marshmallow ROM – Download Link.
  2. YU Yuphoria Android Marshmallow ROM – Download Link.
  3. YU Yunique Android Marshmallow ROM – Download Link.

How to install YU Yureka, Yuphoria and Yunique Official Android Marshmallow

  1. Extract the downloaded YU Android Marshmallow file.
  2. Copy the contents of the YU Android Marshmallow OS to the ADB and Fastboot directory which should be in your Windows Drive.
  3. Now open the Minimal ADB and Fastboot directory from your windows installation drive.
  4. Press and hold the shift key on your keyboard and click on an empty area within the Minimal ADB and Fastboot folder.
  5. Now from the popped up menu, click on “Open command window here”.
  6. It’s time to put your YU phone in the fastboot mode now. Connect your phone to your computer.
  7. Now in the command window, enter the following commands one by one.
  8. adb reboot bootloader
  9. Now we need to verify the YU phone connection in the fastboot mode. Here’s how to do it.
  10. The device code for Yuphoria is i 0x2A96 and for Yureka it is -i 0x1ebf.
  11. Enter the following command to verify connection:
    1. fastboot <device code> devices
  12. After successful connection, it’s time to unlock the bootloader of your phone. Enter these commands now.
    1. fastboot <device code> oem unlock
    2. fastboot <device code> format userdata
    3. This command will format your phone completely.
  13. It’s time to flash the firmware now. Enter the following commands:
    1. fastboot <device code> flash boot boot.img
    2. fastboot <device code> flash recovery recovery.img
    3. fastboot <device code> flash system system.img
    4. fastboot <device code> flash userdata userdata.img
    5. fastboot <device code> oem lock
    6. fastboot <device code> reboot
  14. In all these commands, you will replace <device code> with the code of your device. For example, fastboot i 0x2A9 flash boot boot.img and so on. We have used the code of Yupheria for your understanding.
