At the present time, there’s no chance for the manufacturers to introduce a flagship smartphone having a smaller display, at least smaller then 5.0-inch. Even Apple has gone bigger with the iPhone 6 and it introduced a bigger variant, the iPhone 6 Plus that has a 5.5-inch screen. At the moment, Samsung, LG, Sony and HTC, all are done with their flagships for this year and none of the smartphones had a display smaller than 5.0-inch, the only smartphone giant with some great stakes left is Google. Last year, Google brought up the Nexus 5 in collaboration with LG, the device had a 4.95 inch screen, although it’s big enough but it looks like Google is going to make a big move with the display and this time it’s going to unveil it’s next flagship, the Nexus 6 in collaboration with Motorola.
According to the latest information received by the folks over Android Police, Google’s Nexus 6 will flaunt a 6.0-inch Quad HD screen. That means the device is all set to give a tough competition to its present rivals and take over Apple’s iPhone 6 Plus in this very first round. There has been a number of leaks pointing towards the display of Nexus 6, but this leak by Android Police occupies a great important as they have quite a nice track when it comes to the information about Android devices.
According to the leaked details, Nexus 6 is going to have some major upgrades over the Nexus 5. A new design, that’s quite similar to Motorola’s Moto X. With such a big screen, it looks like a gigantic version of the Moto X, that can be seen from the mock-ups designed by the source. The mockups also show some changes in the UI, slightly redesigned icons for several apps can be seen on the home screen. It looks like Google will be following HTC’s footsteps and will put dual front facing speakers in the Nexus 6. These UI changes might be a part of the Android L that’s going to make its debut along with the Nexus 6. Let’s go through the leaked specifications and get a better idea about what’s coming.
- Screen: 5.9-inch Quad HD – 2560 x 1440 pixels resolution with 469 ppi.
- Camera: 13 MP at the back with OIS. 2 MP on front
- CPU: Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 805 Quad Core CPU.
- Battery: 3200 mAh
- Software: Android L (Android Lollipop)
Google introduced Android 4.4.4 KitKat last year along with the Nexus 5, a new flagship device with a new version of Android, so the launch of Android L with the Nexus 6 actually makes a great sense. Google has been producing great devices over the past few years and we believe that the leaked specifications are good enough to believe in for now as these will help Google to sit at a great spot in competition with LG’s G3, Samsung’s Galaxy Note 4 and Apple’s iPhone 6 Plus.
While the information still remains unofficial, make sure that you taste a pinch of salt after reading this as we can’t be sure about this as long as Google doesn’t come up with the actual device.
