It’s been a while since the official Android 4.3 Jelly Bean firmwares for Samsung Galaxy S IV and Galaxy Note 2 were leaked. Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S III users have been eagerly waiting for the Android 4.3 update, the devices were initially launched with Android 4.1.1 and 4.0.4 respectively and there were no signs of Android 4.2 Jelly Bean update anytime soon, where HTC and Sony already rolled out the Android 4.3 and Android 4.2.2 updates for their flagship devices. We believe that Samsung skipped the Android 4.2.2 update to give a surprise to its fans by rolling out Android 4.3 update directly.
Galaxy S IV owners already got their hands on Android 4.2.2 pulling their device out of the box, so getting Android 4.3 update was not so much exciting they were waiting for, the official OTA updates for Android 4.3 have already rolled out for Galaxy S IV devices, but the official updates for Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S III are still pending. At the IFA event held in Berlin, Samsung promised its users that Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S III will be getting Android 4.3 update, More or less, Samsung has overcome its promise and proved it by starting the updates from Galaxy S IV and pointing at a leaked firmwares before the official release.
The good news for the S III GT-I9300 owners is, the folks over Sammobile have managed to get hold of a leaked firmware, that is Android 4.3 Jelly Bean build number I9300XXUGMJ9. Besides the performance enhancements and stability, the test firmware ensures the complete new core UI, that is exactly as that of the Galaxy S IV and Galaxy Note 3, the setting app has also got a new interface, the options are now under different tabs. But the 4.3 leaked firmware shows that Galaxy S III is still running on the old launcher and the widgets haven’t changed as well. As off now, Samsung hasn’t implemented Knox in this test firmware, but it is expected to be included in the final build. While this is a test firmware, the proper functionality is not guaranteed.
