With less than half a year left in the release of the iPhone 7, rumors and leaks regarding the smartphone have started to pour in one on another. Here is what we know so far:Earlier this year, a reliable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo announced that the upcoming Apple iPhone 7 Plus will be offered in different variants. There will be a special edition of the 7 Plus (which might be called iPhone 7 Pro) that will, allegedly, feature a dual camera system on its back. These lens are to be manufactured by Sony and are expected to be of 12 megapixels each. One of the lens will host a larger aperture than the other and will be accompanied by OIS. The other lens will be equipped by 2-3x optical zoom.
Recently new alleged pictures featuring the upcoming iPhone 7 Plus surfaced. These images all but confirm the rumored dual camera setup. Furthermore we can observe the modified antenna strips in addition to a combination of three dots located at the lower back of the smartphone. These dots seem to be a Smart Connector which was released with the iPad Pro and is used to connect it to the Smart Keyboard. This ‘Smart’ Connector hosts the capability to transfer both data and power between two devices. For the case of iPhone 7, this connector might be used to connect a headphone as rumors are that the device won’t carry the standard 3.5mm jack.
Another major rumor is ‘ no headphone jack ‘, Apple is expected to remove the 3.5mm standard headphone jack from its upcoming smartphone to achieve the amazing thickness of 6.1mm (similar to the iPod touch). Of course the company will come up with another alternative to the 3.5mm jack, hopefully the wired headphones will connect to the iPhone 7 using its Lightning port and Bluetooth headphones will connect wirelessly. Apple is rumored to be working on Lightning-equipped EarPods too while a second stereo speaker could be introduced instead of the headphone jack.
We are expecting both variants to host some major differences as compared to each other. The iPhone 7 might feature 2GB of RAM while its larger brother could be unveiled with a larger, 3GB of Ram. As mentioned above, a different camera system is being rumored. iPhone 7 Plus could be launched with further two variants, one with a single lens like the iPhone 7 and a second with a dual-lens camera system that offers DSLR-like image quality with 2-3x optical zoom and improved performance in low light conditions.
Thanks to Feld & Vold, smartphone case makers, extruded some renders of the smartphone based on the leaked image shown above. These renders (attached in the slideshow below) are an educated guess based on rumors and shouldn’t be taken for granted. Let us know what you think about the renders, in the comment box below.
