HTC would have shown up empty-handed in the MWC event if not for their new additions to the Desire lineup. There was no official news regarding the expected HTC’s flagship until the company posted a teaser on their official Facebook page which confirms the fact the smartphone might be coming soon. The teaser was followed by an interview of HTC’s Chief Financial Officer, Chialin Chang, in which he revealed some information regarding the camera which will be featured in their upcoming flagship – HTC One M10 (aka HTC Perfume).
These events were followed by an announcement by Drew Bamford, corporate VP of HTC’s creative Labs, saying that the new flagship will be coming soon.
“We are absolutely committed to making the world’s most desirable, best phone products in both the premium segment, with the One series, the M Series, and in the mid range with the Desire products.”
This commitment for improvement is shown after the company faced intense criticism on their HTC One M9 for its design or camera performance. Keeping that in mind, Chief Financial Officer of the company hinted that the upcoming flagship will be featuring an amazing camera which will be a worthy competitor of the current flagships in the market. Apart from that, Mr Drew Bamford mentioned that HTC will be making an entry with some ” really cool stuff”. He could be pointing towards the mobile VR technology that HTC is working on. Needless to say, if they succeed in introducing VR tech in their upcoming flagship smartphone, it could be a real game changer. The executive further added:
“These days in interaction design some of the most interesting opportunities are how do you make disparate products function as a system…and there’s an opportunity to do that at a higher level with phones, wearables and VR. Think about how do those product categories work together.”
HTC Perfume will be featuring a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset which will definitely make it a worthy competitor of the other major flagships by tech giants like Samsung and LG. Based on solid rumors and reports, HTC One M10 will be unveiled with a 5.2-Quad HD (1440 x 2560 pixels) display, fingerprint scanner embedded inside a home button, a 12 MP UltraPixel rear camera (as mentioned earlier) combined with dual-tone LED flash, 4 GB of RAM and 32/64 GB of expandable memory. Needless to say the smartphone will be running the latest Android Marshmallow which comes with new features like Google Now on Tap, Doze and a completely redesigned app icons.
Further reports claim that HTC Perfume might be unveiled in March while it won’t be available until later May. So stay tuned to get access to latest developments on this topic.
