Google just published a report in which they claimed that 6 billion plus apps are being scanned for malware everyday. In addition to that, about 400 million devices too are getting a security scan on daily basis. Apparently, the Mountain View company is one of those who take malware threats pretty seriously.
The report mentions that after such extensive scanning, only 0.15% of the devices were found with malware threats. Note that this figure is only true for the devices which had installed apps just via the Play Store. On the other hand, 0.5% of the units which hosted third-party app sources had malware threats in them. Even though the number increases from the later, it is still somewhat negligible, considering the baffling amount of Android apps available.
Apart from the scanning, Google’s addition of granular control and desk encryption is their latest OS, Marshmallow has also significantly added to controlling and countering malware.
